The
film is based on the 1934 novel of the same title by Agatha
Christie. The film tells the story of a world-famous detective,
Hercule Poirot, as he seeks to solve a murder on the famous European
train, Orient Express in the 1930s.
Academy Award nominee Kenneth Branagh does not only took the
director chair, he also starred as Hercule Poirot in this 55 million
dollar budget film. The ensemble casts did a really great job in
this film. But, Kenneth Branagh’s acting is the one most stood up.
He accomplished to play as an eccentric detective.
Shot with 65mm film cameras, the film is beautiful. Every shot is
well thought as Haris Zambarloukos took the head of cinematography.
Patrick Doyle; two time Academy Award nominee was ablento put music
as one of the film’s memorable point. As the music gives goosebumps
and well put on the scenes.
The script is not boring even though most of the film’s scenes took
place on the train. The sound, the visual, the acting is an amazing
combo with the dialogues being smart and funny in a dark way Branagh
still lead us to a big question who is the murderer?
Michelle Pfeiffer’s “Never Forget” song, closed the film andnthe
audiences walked out of the cinema with mixed feelings of pity,
relieved or happy. The film is indeed a good one to watch and
deserve awards yet this film is not for everyone. If you love
detective films darker than Sherlock Holmes, you must watch this
film!
