Moana, daughter of the chief who is never allowed to go to the ocean, since she was little is amazed and curious with the ocean. Mentored by her grandmother her curiosity is a little bit answered. Her father, the chief of the island wanted her daughter to replace him and prepared her for that. While Moana’s happy with that. She always finds something missing. But, when terrible things such as the reduced of the fish, dead plants threatened the life of the island. Moana chose to go to the ocean with certainty to find Maui, the demigod to set things right.

Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker the director of The Princess and The Frog and The Little Mermaid. This Disney’s animated film is the best from all Disney’s animated film. Even from Disney’s 2013 Frozen. With the music written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, Opetaia Foa’i, and Mark Mancina. The songs blend with the beautiful and exotic Polynesian island of Motunui. And like the rest of Disney’s animated films, the animation so beautiful with the texture of the ocean looked so real! The Moana character looked a little bit like Rapunzel’s Tangled.

Voiced by 14-year-old freshman Auli’i Cravalho as Moana. We can relate with Moana deeply. Maui voiced by the world's highest-paid actor of 2016, Dwayne Johnson who even showed his singing talent in this film. His character is full of sarcastic jokes people relate to in which he makes fun of Disney’s other typical film that the audience feel it but not able to say it in words makes the audience burst to laugh. While Nicole Scherzinger took the role as Moana’s mother.

The encouraging song “How far I’ll Go” keeps being repeated on the film makes the audience felt Moana’s journey. The song not just inspiring but how it is sung by Auli’i and many other singers from many countries of the world (not put in the film but as part of promotions) shows how this song could blow everybody’s mind even better than Frozen’s Let It Go. Even though this film grossed for over $282.1 million with the budget of $150 million, this film couldn’t beat the success of 2013’s Frozen with the budget of $150 million and Box Office $1.276 billion!!

This film put an environmental message behind it. Where Te Fiti (one of the character in the film) if we see it closely just like our mother earth. Disasters by disasters will come if somebody takes the Te Fiti’s heart. Just like our world now, many people start to destroy it little by little.

And even more, the film’s other message is very powerful; how girls should find their own self and how they have to know their rights. This issue is put it in a good way in this Disney’s 56th animated feature film. With the dialogue between Maui and Moana who doubted Moana that she can sail the boat because she’s a girl that were supposed to be on the village and carrying a baby is the only thing, she should do are wiped away by Moana's character in this film. How she proved herself not just to Maui, her people, and her father but also to herself is very couraging for young girls to watch. Especially with no love interests in this Disney’s film shows the importance of finding your own self first then finding your true love.

Moana is the perfect role model for everybody to watch. And so proud of Disney who’s film in late years not just a pure love story fairy tale but also has other meaning behind it. Hats Off! This Disney’s Moana could be the next feminist's icon for every generation! (Anna Rose)
