World Tolerance Day is Celebrated with Tears

World Tolerance Day, 16th of November will be celebrated by the International Film Festival for Spirituality, Religion and Visionary (IFFSRV) and World Tolerance Award. 

This two international film festival focuses on finding films with tolerance theme. Until now, IFFSRV has been held for three years.

This celebration felt so relevant yet so concerned to see the global condition that is not conducive for tolerance. The fact that Islam religion people and minority people that are scared and worried by the political act of president-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump that threatened to close the mosque, is a sign that tolerance among the religious people is having a really deep drastic setback in this year of 2016.

World Tolerance Day was set by the United Nations in 1996. With hope to strengthen the meaning of tolerance by adding the feeling of understanding between culture and nations. This celebration was created in an era where violence of extremists and the full of conflict  prove by ignoring the lives of other people.

Damien Dematra as the founder and director of this festival said, “With this celebration, I hope that all the leaders of the world will not forget how important tolerance is. Because without tolerance, the world would be destroyed slowly,” said the man in a long hair.

While the Ambassador for Tolerance, Natasha Dematra said, “After all the tragedy that has happened this last couple of months, this shows that in a modern era like this, there are still a lot of people who are close-minded that forget about the importance of tolerance. I hope with this celebration would bring awareness of what tolerance really is.”

With this sad tragedy, all filmmakers who care about tolerance will gather in Bali and Jakarta to celebrate World Tolerance Day. With hope, with the efforts of the creative industry could open the eyes of every individual that when making a decision do not ever forget the values of tolerance if we want to have a peace world.

A Quest for Meaning directed by Nathanaël Coste and Marc de la Ménardière

Akong A Remarkable Life directed by Chico Dall'Inha

Three the Movie directed by Yassine Marco Marroccu, Elisabetta Minen

WishMakers directed by Cheryl Halpern

American film, WishMakers directed by Cheryl Halpern, the chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) from 2005 to 2007. WishMakers itself is a documentary film about Winery Tulip a community that was made by the community of special needs in the Village of Hope housing in Israel Jezreel Valley, which aims to foster the caring of the environment while providing jobs, dignity, and purpose for the population.

While the film, Three the Movie, is a feature-length film from Italy who picked up the story about the three illegal immigrants in the Northeast Italy which crave happiness, equality, and diversity. British film, Akong A Remarkable Life and films from France, A Quest for Meaning, helped decorate the prestigious list of Best Picture nominees this year.

The winner will be announced in the middle of November celebrating the World Tolerance Day in Bali and Jakarta.

This festival is held with People’s Creative Council, iHebat International Volunteers, World Film Council, and Radio Republic of Indonesia (RRI) as media partner and organizer. (TFR)
