Gerwig’s Lady Bird received 5 nominations from the 90th Academy
Awards. Greta received the Best Director nominee after eight years
no women director ever get into the list. According to history, only
five women, with Greta that have been nominated for Best Director in
Oscar; Lina Wertmüller ("Seven Beauties"), Jane Campion ("The
Piano"), Sofia Coppola ("Lost in Translation") and Kathryn Bigelow
("The Hurt Locker") who became the only women director that ever got
title of Best Director at the Oscar. Greta not only the first women
director to received the nomination after 8 years, Lady Bird is also
her directorial debut along with Jordan Peele who is also made his
directorial debut with the film Get Out (who received 4 nominations
including Best Pictures). The Shape of Water directed by Guillermo
